I will occasionally be posting tips for taking better family photos as well as tips for great wedding photography! So, tip #1, Lose the Flash!
An on-camera flash provides harsh direct light. Beautiful photographs require soft, indirect light. A flash (that can’t “bounce”) will wash out your little one’s precious face, flatten your image, and cast shadows. So, turn it off, and select a location filled with natural light. Use a big window, but don’t put your subject directly in front of the window (unless you want a sillouette), instead put him or her to the side of the window turned slightly toward it. Or, even better, go outside in the shade. Direct sunlight is also too harsh and makes people squint.
Thanks for the tips Kate. Glad you are posting more often!
