Another wonderful couple with great families to work with! Rachel and Rick were married at the chapel at Meredith College which is just so beautiful, and of course provides some great photo opportunities! The reception was across the street at The Royal. There was literally a tropical storm the week before their wedding (seriously, soooo much rain) so I was very happy that we were blessed with a gorgeous day!

More holiday cuteness! And this time a little guy!

Another pair I’ve been photographing since before they were born! Although, this time around, we had a very determined-not-to-have-anything-to-do-with-pictures two year old on our hands. I got some pictures of his adorable big sister, while he refused to change his shirt (who can blame him – it was a Batman shirt, he’s a two year old boy, you do the math!) and got upset if I even turned the camera towards him. But, we didn’t force him, and after we were done, he started playing and I managed to snap a few of him. And, we did actually convince him to sit with his sister for a minute too!

Kim and Chris had a wonderfully intimate wedding at La Residence in Chapel Hill. From our first meeting, I knew I would thoroughly enjoy working with them. Of course, I found their friends and family (Kim is Greek!) equally great to work with.

Definitely lots of laughter throughout the entire event!

It was also Kim’s parents’ anniversary, and the best man from their wedding gave a toast before they cut their own cake!

Family in town visiting is a great opportunity for a portrait session! I have done quite a few of these this Spring, and it is wonderful to do the entire group and then individual portraits of each family. The twins in this session are brand new, and so tiny! They were just a few weeks old, so with that, and such a large group, we didn’t want to travel far from home, so we did this session at the entrance to their subdivision and it worked out nicely. So, keep that in mind! There are many beautiful spots in the area, but if you want to stay close to home, we can definitely figure it out!

This outfit is from The Children’s Place – www.childrensplace.com. I really like them because their toddler clothes are mostly the same as their big kid clothes. So if you have a 6 year old and a 2 year old, they can wear matching outfits. Many lines don’t do that. Of course not everyone is into matching. I, on the other hand, am so into it that his bucket matches his shirt. This is not Mack’s style though! He would rather be naked (always his first choice) or wearing his awesome new SUPER M cape!

I will be out of town through Wednesday, April 1st. I will try to check email as often as possible, and will have my cell phone. Otherwise, I will get back to you when I return!

This Spring, I will offer two Mini Session dates, one in Raleigh and one in Indianapolis! This is a wonderful opportunity to get a few great shots at an excellent price.

Mini Sessions are 30 minutes and will produce approximately 20-35 proofs. Proofs will be online for 30 days to order prints, and you may choose to purchase the CD with the digital files. Mini Sessions are best for up to 4 people. If you have a larger group, consider scheduling two sessions.

Session Fee: $50 or $150 including the CD

People always ask how I capture their child’s personality and get such natural expressions. It’s all about connecting and interacting, rather than directing. If your child gets camera shy, talk while snapping. You can even move the camera away from your face so they can see you! Make a funny face, a loud noise or even get close enough that you can tickle! Interacting with your child will help make the experience positive, and elicit some natural, rather than forced, smiles! Get down on their level (yes, that means squat! Photographing your kids can be a good workout!) and just talk to them rather than saying, “Ok, smile for the camera”! Avoid the “Cheeeeeese Face”!
