Fresh Faces Contest!

Let’s kick off 2012 with some Fresh Faces! I have spent the last two months staring into the sweet little fresh face in my life and am now looking forward to getting out and meeting some new clients in our new town. So, I’m holding a Fresh Faces Contest!

Who: This is open to all ages – children, seniors, engaged couples, proud pet owners, you name it!

What: The winner will receive a complimentary spring 2012 session and a print package (1-8×10 and 2-5x7s)

How: Go to my Facebook page and upload a snapshot of your favorite fresh face. Of course, be sure to “like” This Little Light Photography if you do not already! And, then, it’s easy, just share your link and encourage friends and family to vote! Each person may only vote once, so no hounding people to vote once per day.

When: Entries will be accepted starting Monday, January 9th through midnight on Sunday, January 15th. Voting will take place from Monday, January 16th through midnight on Saturday, January 21st.

For those not entering the contest, or who do not qualify, please please join in the fun and vote for your favorite Fresh Face of 2012! And also please “like” This Little Light Photography! That way you’ll be sure to hear about future opportunities and specials, including a few Casting Calls for product models and some Mini Sessions this spring.

Our sweet, sweet Baby JJ! He joined our family on November 4, 2011, two weeks early after a very short, but intense labor! I barely made it to the hospital, so it was quite a dramatic arrival! We are enjoying every minute with him, and we are all just so in love!

One of my favorite venues, the most beautiful weekend this Fall, and a truly sweet, adorable couple…definitely a wonderful wedding!! Brittany and Aaron were so great to work with, and as I said, absolutely just adorable! And I love Jones Chapel on Meredith’s Campus – not to mention the fantastic weather and the perfect timing with the soft sunlight. In fact, some of my favorite shots from the whole day are those where we played with the setting sun a little bit. Their reception was at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, and there is truly something magical about dancing under giant dinosaurs and walking through a native forest scene to visit the buffet (although dining with real snakes looking at you from their cases, well, that’s not *quite* as magical, but definitely part of the experience!) As many of you know, I am due in just about three weeks with another sweet baby boy, so I have to say how incredibly much I appreciate my second shooter, the lovely Sarah Null! She has been working with me for a long time, but for this wedding, it was truly a blessing to have her along. I was definitely fine, and worked through my last pregnancy, too, but still, just the peace of mind is priceless! Anyway, congratulations, Brittany and Aaron! Thank you so much for having us as part of your day. The rest will be online soon.

Amanda and Will had a beautiful wedding on a perfect September day last weekend! So, here is a very image heavy (more than I normally share) sneak peek!

One of my favorites! And, I really can’t take the credit…the kids insisted on throwing petals on the bride and groom for a picture. Love how it turned out! Great idea, kiddos!

Fall 2011 Availability and Mini Session Dates!

Wow, we are gearing up for school to start, and it’s already time to start thinking about the holidays! I love Summer, and am always sad to see it end. But, I am looking forward to cooler temperatures, changing leaves, sweaters, football, Halloween, apple cider…and one other little thing happening this Fall…if you haven’t heard, or seen me recently, we’re expecting another baby boy in November!! So, that means my availability for sessions this fall is very limited! I have a few openings for full sessions, so if you’d like one, please contact me right away. I will also be having two mini session dates in the Raleigh area, and one at the beach. All will be a bit early this year, and one I am even calling an early bird special – get your holiday portraits done in early September and save! For those who have had a session already this year, as always, I will do a Client Appreciation Day with FREE sessions, so watch for an email with those details!

Mini Sessions are 30 minutes long and produce about 25-35 proofs. You may choose to purchase the CD at the time of the session, or wait until after you’ve had a chance to view the proofs to decide.

Congratulations, Sara and Erik!!

Wow, this wedding was such a wonderful experience and we are so honored to have been included! Sara and Erik were married in New Orleans, and New Orleans weddings are truly one of a kind! This one was even more special because Erik’s mom, Lisa, is a wonderful friend of my mom’s, and has been so great to me over the years, too. They used to be neighbors, but a few years ago, Lisa and her husband John moved to California and my mom was heartbroken. My parents were also so honored to be invited as it was mostly a family only affair, and enjoyed visiting with Lisa and John and the rest of the crew. To add to all of that, a few years ago I also photographed Lisa’s brother Jay’s wedding to the beautiful Stephanie. So, it was wonderful to spend time with them again, too! We enjoyed meeting Sara’s family, too! The details were wonderfully planned, and that is so important with a destination wedding. Their guests not only were treated to a wonderful celebration of their marriage, but also to a fantastic long weekend in an amazing city! We really enjoyed working with Get Polished Events during their wedding as well! They not only assisted with the planning, but also hair and make-up. Of course, the bride and groom are both gorgeous, and just so sweet. Their happiness was so apparent the entire weekend. And, the dress. I LOVE this dress! Not everyone could pull this off, but Sara truly looked amazing! Ok, on to the images…

The ceremony took place in Jackson Square, in front of the beautiful St. Louis Cathedral. I loved that so many people stopped to watch!

And, on to the second line! Seriously, this New Orleans tradition is one of my favorite things in the whole wide world! Their second line parade went all through the French Quarter, and was so much fun as people along the streets really got into it!

It seems when I visit Indiana, I have a pretty regular base of clients – some I’ve known since childhood and love getting to see their families grow, some whose weddings I photographed years ago and are now having children, and some who have just found me and been coming back year after year. I love that most of my clients, especially in Indy, feel like (or truly are) old friends! But, I also love the opportunity meet new people in Indy, too! And this family felt like old friends right away, so I hope to see them again in the future!

I don’t think my jokes were actually this funny, but Miss S was sweet enough to laugh extra hard!

We just moved and I am a bit behind on getting images uploaded, so here is a sneak peek for Laura and Jared! They had a wonderful wedding at Sacred Heart Cathedral and the reception was later in the evening (it was so nice to have a little break in the middle of the day!) at The Stockroom. They are such a fun couple, both very polite and sweet, but with a bit of a silly side. My grandmother said to me when I married my husband “Well, you’ll never be bored!” and I think the same is true for Laura and Jared. Their interactions with each other are just beyond cute. I truly enjoyed working with them! The rest should be online within about 48 hours, but for now, here are a few sneak peeks…

Caitlin’s Beautiful Bridal Session
