Winter sessions can be so much fun! This sweet little girl turned one last week and we celebrated with a rather chilly photo session. She was definitely a trooper though and smiled the whole time. Of course she looked adorable all bundled up – red little nose and all! As I’ve said before, I love generation shots. Definitely, if you have the opportunity, get the grandparents involved!

My baby is 4 today! For some reason this birthday has been really emotional for me. He is so grown up. He’s definitely not a baby any more. He loves Star Wars and knows all the characters; he can identify all the different species of sharks and tell facts about each; he can recognize his own name when he sees it written; he loves art and playing outside; he can swim and play soccer; his imagination is the most incredible thing on the planet, and his memory is pretty incredible, too. He’s not a baby, but he’ll always be my baby.

This family recently moved to the area from Seattle, so they were very excited to have some sunshine for their holiday portrait session! Of course, I’m always looking for shade, but being at the “edge” of the shade with a touch of sun is just perfect…

I know I say over and over how much I love doing portraits at home, but I truly do. It is so great to capture your family just being a family in the place where you feel most comfortable. I absolutely love these images, and could not share them before Christmas because they were a surprise for daddy! We also took many fun photos playing outside, in the playroom and by the Christmas tree, but these images of reading a book in bed are my favorite…

I’m excited to finally share a few weddings from last year that didn’t make it on to the blog! This fun wedding was shot by my Associate Photographer Robert. I was already booked on the date, but was jealous because Sheri and Scott were married at one of my favorite spots, the JC Raulston Arboretum, and the reception was at the NC Museum of Natural Science.
