I know we don’t always feel beautiful when we’re pregnant, but really, it is beautiful. The laughter in this shot makes it one my favorite recent maternity images…

I love twin newborns! It almost always means I’ll get a great baby fix! With two babies, they’re bound to need an extra set of arms at some point! I definitely got to hold these sweet little ones during our time together. Their adorable big brother did a great job too!

These two are seriously such handsome little guys, or really, big guys. They are definitely going to break some hearts in the future! While I love sweet curled up newborns and capturing on-the-go toddlers, it is definitely so much fun for me to photograph older kids! They have their own ideas about the shoot and totally make it fun! It seems that many people stop doing professional portraits after about age 5, and that is just wrong! These school age years go so fast and are definitely worth capturing.

These pictures were a Father’s Day surprise for dad, who is a HUGE Bears fan (although, for some reason, he painted his man cave/wine cellar a beautiful shade of COLTS blue…ha ha!) Anyway, we had to take a few pictures in the jerseys!

Mr. E took his own sweet time entering the world. In fact, he was so late, he almost missed his own baptism! But mom busted him out of the hospital just in time! He was so sweet and cooperative for our session. I really wanted to take him home with me!

And this sweet little girl was an absolute joy to photograph! She is just adorable, and did a great job despite the heat. She and her parents were up for just about anything. I love when families aren’t afraid to get a little dirty, even in a gorgeous dress, for great photos! We really had a great morning exploring the gardens!

I have so many amazing dads in my life and I am so grateful! I also love love love capturing the father-child bond at all stages from maternity and newborn portraits to the wedding day. In fact, it is almost always the father daughter moments – when he sees her for the first time, right before walking down the aisle, the dance, a moving toast – that make me tear up the most at weddings. There is something so beautiful about a man with his children. Happy Father’s Day to all of the wonderful dads in my life, and to those that I have the pleasure of photographing!

Julia and Matt had a beautiful wedding at one of my favorite spots, the Raleigh Rose Garden. This was truly an awesome example of a DIY wedding! Julia and her family did the flowers, the food, the set-up, everything! And the result was a beautiful, intimate garden wedding. One of my favorite details was the programs that Julia made herself – they doubled as fans, which was perfect because it was HOT! The flowers were just gorgeous too…

I had the great honor of photographing the Raleigh City Museum’s Time Warp fundraiser! It was a wonderful evening – very elegant! And included in the items up for grabs in the live auction were a week in a beautiful apartment in Paris, and free beer for a year from Natty Greene’s! You can’t beat that!

I have a deep love for museums. In fact, many, many years ago, I chose the Master’s Degree in Nonprofit Management program in hopes of a career in museum education. Of course, I now do something completely different, but I volunteer with many local museums, and always enjoy the opportunity to photograph events in them. It is especially cool to see the space, that you’re so used to by day, transformed into a completely different environment at night!

I will also say that the Raleigh City Museum is truly an hidden gem in the wedding planning community (kind of like me!) It is such a unique space. It’s conveniently located right on Fayetteville Street (think FUN urban photos!), yet, they are just beginning to offer the space for rental, so ten of your friends have not already had their receptions there. Definitely something new, different and hip! Not to mention, the exhibits cover everything Raleigh, so your guests will have plenty to talk about, and will learn about our great city while celebrating with you!

I so enjoyed working with Kelly and Chris! They really seemed relaxed, easy going and so incredibly happy on their wedding day. They were definitely fun and playful, too. Seriously, Chris wrote his vows on a poster he had made to cheer Kelly on at a VT water polo match when they first met! (I couldn’t fit a picture here, but there’s one on Facebook!) Plus, it was a beautiful day and I loved the yellow and blue color pallette they chose. It was also fun to explore the campus of Elon University a bit! In fact, I really had a great time doing Kelly’s briday portrait session on the campus, so I’ll share a few of those first…
